She's a BRICK HOUSE...

Imagine, if you will...a night - (a weekend) - without your kids.
Is there such a planet? Although I love my kids to the ends of the earth and miss them already, I will take advantage of the "me" time.
This is what I am doing with my free time: Call me crazy - I bought salmon and shrimp! (Ugghhhh - so uncool, Mom)!
Because my daughter is allergic to shellfish and eggs, I never eat them at home. Fish oil is good for you, you know. I take it in a pill instead of eating it three times a week like I did before she arrived in my life.
I think I'll eat eggs for breakfast, too. Scrambled with a side of - well, whatever. (It's the eggs that count).
I also bought three CDs. One - (poor neighbors) - that I am blasting, in memory of my friend, MB, who I posted about, that died recently. It is called "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC" and contains songs that we - (MB and I - and others my age) - grew up with like "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC" by Wild Cherry; "BRICK HOUSE" by the Commodores, and "LET IT WHIP" by the Dazz Band!
Who knew I could still Boogie til I puked at 45? I forgot about that side of me! I was dancing in my living room, like I was 16, and didn't know I could still find "the groove." Man, call me a "square", but this is good dance stuff that many people wrote off as "70s disco" that really is the "soundtrack of my youth." I was born in 1964 - and loved lots of kinds of music. My parents had parties where they played 50s music - good stuff! I loved that, too!
In the 70s, disco was in. I was the oldest of three - so I had no older siblings to say, "Man, that sucks, you should listen to THE DOORS!" I loved this music because it was on the radio and that's all I had!
While shopping for the fish today, I passed the electronics section of the store. I went in, not seeking darn thing. But there I asked the sales-guy for "Compilations". He kindly showed me that "section". So I happily found two other CD compilations - one called "60's Pop Hits" and another "Now That's What I Call Motown". They are great!
I ate my salmon, broccoli, and didn't sit down for five minutes straight. I can't help but let loose to this "It's Your Thing" by the Isley Brothers or, gosh, "Let's Get It On" by the master, Marvin Gaye. Shoot - call me an "Old Fart", but they knew how to MOVE you back then in the 60s! Sure, I later fell in love with THE DOORS, VAN HALEN, FLEETWOOD MAC and LED ZEPPELIN, but this music is in a class all by itself.
Don't get me started...because life is "KIND OF A DRAG" - (the Buckinghams), and "I WANT CANDY - (The Strangeloves) and I surely miss my "BROWN EYED GIRL" - (Van Morrison). But, I am a "SUPER FREAK" - (Rick James) - who is "UPSIDE DOWN" - (Diana Ross) - and is at "WAR"- (Edwin Starr)- because her friend died TOO DAMN EARLY.
But heck, I'm breathing, I'm here, and I'm dancing like there is no tomorrow, BECAUSE I CAN.
Life is great...
And to MB - I am boogie-ing until I puke - (with COCA-COLA because I am old) - and remembering our youth.
Thanks for being my friend. All of you 1960s babies....
You're my BRICK HOUSE.
Cheerth!
